Thomasina Jackson Tomlin, 83, widow of Retired 1st SGT Edward Tomlin, departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2020 at The Gardens of Sumter Assisted Living Facility. Born January 12, 1937, in Sumter County to the late William “Bo” Graham and Thelma Jackson Quashie and reared in the home of her grandparents, O’Neal and Hallie Jackson. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. Thomasina was employed by Campbell Soup for many years and later on stayed at home to care for her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark 4-B Baptist Church, where she served diligently as a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Ministry, Pastors’ Aide, and sang on the Gospel Choir. She is survived by: a daughter, Donna (Terrance) Dupree; a son, Duane Tomlin, both of Sumter; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Kirk) Johnson and Angela Tomlin-Hart, both of Sumter; two stepsons, Darryl Tomlin of Sumter and Tommy Lee (Angela) Scott of Charlotte, N. C.; two sisters, Susan Willis of Sumter and Gertrude Moore of New York, N. Y.; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; one granddaughter, Terran Dupree; a special adoptive grandson, TyJae Jenkins; eight step-grandchildren; five godchildren; a special adoptive niece, Dorothy Floyd; two special caregivers, Jere Pitts and Laura Frierson; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of her daughter, 745 George Washington Boulevard, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1 p. m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 from the St. Mark - 4 B Baptist Church, 2280 Four Bridges Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Sammie D. Simmons, Pastor, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12 noon. The procession will leave from the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cain’s Mill Road, Sumter.
