Rutha Peterson Copeland Mack, 68, departed this life on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Born in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late James Wilson and Caroline Peterson. Rutha was joined in Holy matrimony for over 30 years to the late Herbert L. Copeland, Sr. She then united in marriage to the late Joe Mack. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and later joined St. John Apostolic Holiness Church. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Leroy (Gail) Copeland, William Copeland, Cynthia Copeland, Joann Copeland, all of Sumter, Deborah Copeland of Plover, Wisconsin; brother and sisters, Deloris Lewis of Timmonsville, Jacy Peterson, Blondell Sweatman, Carolyn Fraizer, Jeanette Holman, all of Columbia, Mary Sanders of Elliott, Geneva Rogers of Bishopville, Patricia Wilson of Lugoff, and Michael Peterson of Columbia; twenty five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Geneva Copeland Williams; special friend, William Missouri, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 217 Wilson Street, Sumter. Graveside services will be held 2 p. m., Thursday, March 26, 2020 from the Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cain’s Mill Road, Sumter, with Pastor Betty Pringle, officiating. The Procession will leave from the residence at 1:20 p. m.
