Pearline De’Lay, 92, departed this life on Thursday Morning, April 9, 2020 at the National Health Care of Sumter after a long period of illness. She was born in Dalzell on February 14, 1928 to the late Maebell Queen De’Lay and granddaughter of the late Elizabeth and Irack De’Lay. Pearline was baptized at Joshua Baptist Church at an early age, where she attended Sunday School on a regular basis. In 1949, her family moved to Sumter where she attended Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Larry C. Weston, until her health failed. Pearline came from a large family and had lots of friends. If you knew or have met her, you would describe her as humble, very loving, generous, friendly, kind and a helpful person. She leaves to cherish her memories: her sisters, Aline De’Lay of Baltimore, MD, Sarah Elizabeth De’Lay of Silver Springs, MD and Elouise Capers of New Windsor, N. Y.; brother-in-law, Izell Capers of New Windsor, N. Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, locating from Sumter, Dalzell, Atlanta, GA, Gainesville, Florida, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New York. Graveside Services will be held 1 p. m., Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Joshua Baptist Churchyard Cemetery, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor, Rev. Joseph Ricks, officiating. The procession will leave from Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, at 12:20 p. m.
