Sister Adlean Charles Moses, affectionately known as “Sister”, daughter of the late George and Bertha Carter Charles, was born in Lee County on April 8, 1930. After the declining of her health, she longed more and more to go home to be with the Lord. On May 21, 2020, the Lord received her into his Eternal care and she transitioned from her earthly body into her eternal form. She was at her home surrounded by her children, gathered around her bedside. She was 90 years old. As a child and young adult, Adlean was affiliated with Elizabeth Baptist Church. During her teenage years and being the oldest child, she was very instrumental in helping to care for her younger siblings, especially during her mother’s illness. She later joined the Jamestown Road Church of God and dedicated her life to the Lord. Over the years, she served in various capacities including: Sunday school teacher, senior choir member, chairman of usher board, member of missionary, as well as founder and longtime chairman of the family and friends day. On September 17, 1949, Adlean married the late Andrew Moses and together they raised seven children. She was an exemplary wife and mother who advocated strong family values and unity. Her love of God and her family were the two most important things in her life. Being an advocate of Family Reunions, her Paternal Genetic Ancestry roots were traced back to being a certified member of the BUBI people living in BIOKO Island, Africa. Not completing her formal education as a child, Adlean went back to school to attend night classes and qualify for her GED. She used her natural intelligence and love of her children to become a stay-at-home wife and mother of seven, while her husband, the late Andrew Moses, worked away from home. Throughout her personal life, Adlean (Sister) touched and influenced many lives. Countless others have adopted her as mother and looked to her as a mother figure. Never at a loss for words, or giving advice, she was soft spoken but her words carried weight and purpose. Adlean was preceded in death by her husband, the late Deacon Andrew Moses, two sisters: Bertha Mae Rivers and Georgianna Robinson, two brothers, George, Jr. and Joe Charles and one stepson, Elijah Wilson. She is survived by: four sons, Andrew L. (Gloria), Douglas, Stephen of Bishopville, SC, Michael (Gloria Brenda) of Wake Forest, NC; three daughters, Earlean Simon of Bishopville, SC, Shirley (Franklin) Stuckey of Camden, SC and Juanita (Steven) Martin of Fountain Inn, SC; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; : two sisters, Alma Gray of Voorhees, NJ and Geneva Allen of Sumter, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Moses of Greenville, SC and Elease Moses of Georgia, and countless relatives, friends and acquaintances also left to relish her memories. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 68 Moses Road, Bishopville. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11 a. m., Monday, May 25, 2020 at the Jamestown Road Church of God, 2671 Jamestown Road, Camden, with Reverend Curtis Murph, Pastor, Eulogist. Burial will be in the Jamestown Road Church of God Cemetery. The procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m.
