Sandy Wilson, 82, son of the late Frank Wilson, Sr. and Lugenia Dais Wilson, was born on September 25, 1937 in Sumter County. He departed this earthly life on Friday, May 29, 2020. Sandy attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was a graduate of the former Ebenezer High School. Upon graduation he relocated to The Bronx, N. Y. where he was employed with New York City Transit Authority for 26 years as a Bus Operator. He retired in 1995 and returned to South Carolina. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church. Upon returning to South Carolina he restored his membership with the Hopewell Church family. While living in New York, Sandy met and married the “love of his life”, Charlie Mae Brye. He is survived by: his wife, Charlie; children, Sandra, Sounia, Sidney and Anthony; five grandchildren; one grandson; two sisters, Gertrude Dennis and Lugenia (William) Carter; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Wilson and Ernestine Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is requesting no visitation at the home. Viewing of Remains will be from 3 – 5 p. m. only on Thursday, June 4, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Friday, June 5, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Richard Addison, pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church, officiating, eulogist. The procession will leave 10:30 a. m. from the home, 302 Pine Street, Sumter.
