Eva L. Sumpter, a long time resident of Rembert, departed this life on Monday, June 22, 2020 after a long battle with her illness. Born April 1, 1936, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late James and Frances Skinner. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. Eva was married to the late James Sumpter. As a young woman, she lived in Washington, DC, but later moved back home to take care of her ailing mother. Upon returning home she joined and faithfully attended Pine Grove A. M. E. Church. She retired from Kendall Manufacturing. Eva enjoyed spending time with her family and living life to the fullest. Eva is survived by her brothers, James (Jean) Gamble, Robert Floyd and Cesar (Ruby) Floyd; her nephew, Terrence Gamble and niece, Jamie Gamble, and a host of other relatives, friends and love ones. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 145 Lewis Circle, Rembert. Graveside services will be held 1:00 P. M, .Friday, June 26, 2020 at Pine Grove A. M. E. Church, 41 Pine Grove Road, Rembert, with the Reverend Lorenzo Dinkins, Officiating. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m.
