On September 12, 2020, God saw fit in His infinite wisdom to call Joseph Franklin McLeod, Jr., 52, home from earthly battles to heavenly rewards. Joseph, known to most as “Speedy”, was born on August 25, 1968 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Emma Jane McLeod. At an early age he was adopted by Earnest and Lula Mae Jenkins. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and later moved to Baltimore, Maryland. His fond memories will be cherished by: one brother, George (Juanita) Jenkins of Philadelphia, PA; seven sisters, Shirley McLeod of Philadelphia, PA, Mary (James) Barno, Ernestine (Robert) Hunter, Barbara (Michael) Abrams, Lula Dawson, Fannie “Hester” (Melvin) McLeod, all of Sumter and Mary Jenkins of Alexandria, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COV19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p. m., Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor, officiating. The procession will leave at 1:30 p. m. from 4540 Cotton Acres Road, Sumter.
