Demetrius Larry Cooper “Coop” was born April 11, 1984 in Berlin, Germany to Richard Cooper and Genovia Capers Cooper. He called to God’s arms November 14,2022 from his home, 8151 St. Charles Road, Mayesville, SC. He was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. attended the public schools of Lee County. He decided to serve his Country and joined the United States Army in July 2006. He served faithfully and was deployed to Iraq during his time in the Army. He served three years and was blessed to return home March 2009. Demetrius loved his family. He enjoyed watching football and was a dedicated Gamecock and Loyal Carolina Panther’s fan. Demetrius was well known and will be remembered by many as the Guy who enjoyed taking hundreds of pictures. He will be missed by his beloved family. He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his wife, Kindell Cooper of Sumter; six children, Dasean Cooper of Bishopville, Kiondra Cooper of Sumter, Denise Dennis of Lynchburg, Destiny Cooper of Sumter, Jah’Liyah Cooper of Sumter, and Demarris Cooper of Bishopville; his father, Richard( Tonya) Cooper of Newport News, VA; his mother, Genovia (Lawrence) Peterson of Sumter; four sisters, Wanzie Phillips of Dumfries, VA, Naikeya (Shawn) Seabury, Roneisha Still of Stanford, N. C., Akia Cooper, Stafford, VA; one brother, Antone (Dyrhanda) Cooper of Morrisville, N. C.; father-in-law, Melvin (Lisa) Benbow of Sumter, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation from 12:00 – 5:00 p. m. at the home, 8151 St. Charles Road, Mayesville and 5419 Oak Crest Road, Sumter.. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Monday, November 21, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. J. Elbert Williams, Eulogist. The procession will leave from 8151 St. Charles Road, Mayesville at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence.
