Albert Gillard, 81, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at his home. He was born in Summerton on January 28, 1937 to the late Fred Gillard and Janie Jones Gillard. After graduating from Bates High School, Summerton, May 13, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of his tour of duty, he went on to work with Josh & Neal Construction Company, where he later retired. He attended the Old Trinity Church now Western Community Church. His memory will be cherished by: one sister, Barbara Ann Davis of Fayetteville, NC; five daughters, Loretta Felder-Keniley (Johnnie) of Washington, DC, Nicole Taylor (Gregory) of Sumter, Lisha McAllister of Byron, GA, Aronda Reed-O’Neal (Charles) of Mansfield, TX, Juanita Ross (Felix) of Greenville, NC; five sons, Oliver Felder, Jr. of Bowling Green, VA, Aaron Reed of Mansfield, TX, Robert Player (Latanya), James Bryant (Chanita) and Steven Bryant (Rochelle) all of Sumter; his companion, Carolyn B. Bryant; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 109 King Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2019, 1:30 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Ricky Simmons, Youth Pastor of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, officiating, eulogist. The procession will leave at 1 p. m. from the home.
