Sammie Lee Moses, 58, of Rembert, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 22, 2019. Born December 28, 1960, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Silas and Alethia Grant Moses. He graduated from Hillcrest High School with the Class of 1980, where he was a standout basketball player. Sammie was employed with the Sumter School District at the time of his passing. He was an entrepreneur and cook. He was the owner of Sam’s Cleaning Service, formerly M & M Carpets of Columbia for which he dedicated many years of service. His previous employment included Palmetto Health Baptist, John Deere and FN Manufacturing. Sammie leaves as his legacy to cherish his memory: two children, Ariel R. Moses and Nicholas R. Moses; his former wife, Monica R. Moses; eight siblings, Dorlena M. Choice, Ethel (Feggin) Durant, Alta (Dempsie) Sanders, Silas (Beverly) Moses Jr., Curtis (Carolyn) Moses, Brenda (Ronnie) Scott, Wendy (Washington) Williams, Thomasina (Gary) Moore; three aunts; two uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at the home of Feggin and Ethel Durant, 2460 Camden Highway, Sumter, through today from 4 – 8 p. m. Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, 1 p. m., at the Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, pastor, Rev. William “B. J.” Jefferson, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12 noon for viewing until time of services. The funeral procession will leave at 12:20 p. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Elizabeth A. M. E. Church Cemetery, Borden Road, Rembert.
