Thelma Jean Richardson, 87, wife of Elijah Richardson and daughter of the late Eugene Barrow and Ethel Hartwell was born August 29, 1931 in Durham, NC. On May 14, 2019, God sent his angel to pluck from his garden a rare and beautiful flower. She departed this life at Kershaw County Medical Center, Camden. Thelma attended the public schools of Durham, NC. Later she moved to Baltimore, MD, then relocated to New York City, NY, where she was affiliated with St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was employed by AT & T Telephone Company for many years. Upon retirement from AT & T, she then relocated to Sumter with her husband of 65 years. She worked diligently with the Santee Senior Service of Sumter until retiring. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband; two daughters, Darlene Richardson (Dennis) and Shirley Blanding, both of Sumter; two granddaughters, Jeanae Richardson of Charleston and Jasmine Knight of Sumter; one grandson, Anthony (Talonya) McCullough of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Virginia McMillian; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 5275 Burrows Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, 2 P. M., from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. James Cabbagestalk, officiating, eulogist. Wake services will be held Friday, 5 - 7 p. m. from the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 821 North Main Street, Sumter. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Sumter.
