Benjamin F. Cook, 65, departed this life on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home. Born September 21, 1953, in Raeford, NC, he was the son of the late David Cook and Ruth N. Whitted Cook. He later moved to New York City where he was educated and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School. He worked at Price Bottom Department Store in Jamaica Queens, NY as Head of Security. He was employed and retired from Long Island Railroad where he worked as an electrician. He is survived by his children, two sons, Benjamin Cook, Darren Gross; one daughter, Eve N.(Glenn)Mack; three granddaughters, Giona Mack, Isis and Kailani Cook; three sisters, Juliet Parson, Evangelist Barbara Richardson, Cheryl Cook; three brothers, Charles Cook, David Cook, Jr., and James Cook; his ex-wife, Edith C. Gayle; and a host of family and friends. The Family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 311 Kingsbury Drive, Sumter. Wake services will be held Friday, July 5, 2019 ~ 11 a. m. to 12 noon followed by Funeral services at 12 Noon in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Evangelist Barbara Richardson, officiating, eulogist. Funeral procession will leave from the home at 11:20 a. m.
