Edith Brooks Ramsey, 67, was born on March 14, 1952 in Sumter to the late Edward Brooks, Sr. and Fannie Williams Brooks. She departed this earthly life on Monday, March 9, 2020 at her home in Dalzell. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and continued this relationship as a member of Willow Grove A. M. E. Church until illness prevented her from attending church services. She attended the public schools of Sumter County, graduating from Ebenezer High School, Class of 1970. Edith married the late Benjamin Franklin Ramsey in 1973. She worked as a supervisor at Manchester Farms until the death of her husband. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four daughters, Rosalind Ramsey (Marcel) of Sumter, Makesha (Jermaine) Benjamin, Kimberly Downing and Kalenna Ramsey, all of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; three siblings, Edward Brooks, Jr. of Sumter, Joseph Brooks of Camden and Hattie Mae Rembert of Washington, DC; four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 5055 Ridge Street, Dalzell. Funeral Services will be held 11 a. m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 from the Willow Grove A. M. E. Church, 8105 Sumters Landing Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Wallace Preston, pastor, Elder (Pastor) Carl McLane, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. The procession will leave from the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Willow Grove A. M. E. Church Cemetery.
