Willie Lee Shannon was born May 8, 1959 in Sumter to Charlie and Earline Shannon. At the age of 60, he departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Willie, as he was affectionately known, received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. Following high school, he proudly enrolled in the United States Army. After ending his military career, he joined Ramsey’s Septic Service for many years. Later, he worked a long side his father in the family business, Shannon’s Janitorial Services. He was a member of Household of Faith Holiness Church, Columbia. He enjoyed a host of outdoor activities. You could easily find him enjoying the sunshine and all that nature had to offer in his back yard. Willie memories will be cherished by: his mother, Earline Shannon of Sumter; his wife, Brenda Shannon; four daughters, Shontel Wright and Latawtay Peacock of Atlanta, GA, Santana Shannon of Columbia, Tenisia Caesar of Sumter; one son, Antoine Spann of Dalzell; eight grandchildren; one sister, Debra (Jake) Ballard; one brother, Charles (DeeDee) Shannon of Texas; one aunt, Wilhelmenia Anderson of Sumter; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Nelson of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, Derrick Nelson and Elijah (Melissa) Nelson, Jr. of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Debra Bradley of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 3155 Kim Street, Dalzell. Funeral Services will be held 9:00 a. m., Monday, March 30, 2020 at Household of Faith Holiness Church, 702 York Street, Camden, with Pastor David Williams, presiding, Pastor John Wright, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave the home at 8:00 a. m. Burial will be in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia.
