Maebell Gregg Loney, 85, was born in Sumter County on December 3, 1934 to the late George and Mary Johnson Gregg. She was blessed with a loving family of five sisters and four brothers. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert Loney. Sister Maebell entered eternal rest peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Windsor Manor Nursing Facility, Manning, after a brief illness. She attended the public schools in the Oswego community. She worked for many years at Charlie’s Café’. She used her talents as a private domestic engineer working for many years for a prominent family in the Sumter community. She was affectionately called “Bay or Aunt Bay” by her family and friends. Sister Maebell accepted God as her personal Savior at an early age. She returned and reconnected with her childhood church family, Beulah A. M. E. Church, with joy and excitement. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, Ladies’ Club and Lay Organization. She leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Pastor Mary Lee Watkins of Brooklyn, NY; two grandsons, Anthony Richardson and Michael Richardson, and one granddaughter, Hope Richardson, all of Sumter; fifteen great-great grandchildren; three great-great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of her sister, 108 Charlotte Avenue, Sumter. Graveside Services will be held 2 p. m., Saturday, April 11, 2020 at The Beulah A. M. E. Churchyard Cemetery, 3175 Florence Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Dwayne Bruce, Senior Pastor, Eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m.
