Minnie V. Hilton, 82, was born to the late Mildred and Garnett Jones on February 8, 1938. She departed her life on April 8, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Minnie was educated in the Baltimore City public school system, where she received her High School diploma at Dunbar High School. After receiving her high school diploma, she worked for Shopiro and White House Clothing Company for several years and later she pursue her nursing career. She worked at John Hopkins Hospital as a nursing assistant for 17 years during which she met the love of her life, James Hilton in 1962 and was married in 1974. To this union one son, Bryan Braxton was born. Minnie retired in 1987 and moved to Sumter with her husband in 1988. Minnie loved to cook, decorate and host events with family and friends whom she loved. Minnie leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Bryan Braxton; two step sons, James Jr. and Wade Hilton; three stepdaughters, Deborah, Barbara Jean and Claudette Hilton; two brothers, Larry and Andre Braxton; one sister, Carolyn Morris; one brother-in-law, Raymond Morris; six sisters-in-law; four granddaughter, Teqia Thornton, Bri-Arnn and Brittoni Braxton; three grandsons, Montrez Braxton, Gary Thornton and Bryan Braxton; seven great grandchildren; a host of other family members and friends. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Hilton; father and mother, Garnett and Mildred Jones; her sister, Vilvet Braxton and her daughter, Robin Braxton-William. Graveside Services will be held 2 p. m., Friday, April 17, 2020 at New Covenant Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery, 791 Martin Town Road, Sumter, with Mack Pugh, officiating. The procession will leave from 1090 Goodson Road, Sumter, at 1:20 p. m.
