Rodney DeWayne Sanders, 43, departed this earthly plane on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home in Tampa, Florida. Born in Sumter County, December 6, 1976, he was the oldest child of Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Phillip Gregory and Carolyn Louise Helton Sanders. Growing up in a military family, Rodney travelled extensively with his parents, living in North Carolina, Texas, California, Germany and Japan, to name a few. Ron loved drawing, designing, music, singing and traveling with his family. After graduating from Department of Defense High School, Yokota Air Force Base, Japan, Ron studied Graphic Design at North Carolina State University, followed by a study in Media Arts at the Arts Institute of Tampa. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted parents, Phillip G. and Carolyn L. Sanders; one brother, Termaine G. Sanders; maternal grandfather, Freddie Helton of Sumter; fourteen aunts and uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 – 9 p. m. at the home, 2351 Stamey Livestock Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p. m., Saturday, June 6, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Ashley Vaughn, D. Min., Eulogist.
