Alonzo “Donnie” Person, 50, son of James and Portia Wilson, was born on August 27, 1970 in Newport News, Virginia. He made his peaceful transition on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Providence Health Hospital in Columbia. “Donnie”, as he was affectionately known, received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School. He spent his days building bonds and strong relationships with many people. Donnie had a strong love for family and friends and you could feel that love if you ever encountered him. He’s held many jobs from driving cabs, working in various plants and even opened his own retail store known as “Buttamanz Gallery” at the Sumter Flea Market. Loving memories will be cherished by: one daughter, Jinise Anthony of Sumter; two sons, Duquan Lambert and Jayshon of Virginia; one sister, Trina Mattocks of Sumter; one brother, James Wilson, Jr. of Sumter; one granddaughter, Jiniyah Leneau of Sumter; three other grandchildren of Virginia; a loving companion of many years, Lisa Phillips of Columbia; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In accordance with the COV19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends at all visitation at the home, 314 Myrtle Beach Highway, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m,, Friday, December 4, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Marion H. Newton, pastor of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter.
