Kennedy McDonald, “better known as “Kenny”, son of Betty Williams McDonald and the late Valentine McDonald, was born in Sumter on May 7, 1965. He departed this life on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Kenny was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School, Class of 1984. Kenny was a very private person. He put his life on hold to become a caregiver for his aging mother and two brothers. Kenny served faithfully as their caregiver until his sudden death. His kind heartedness and giving spirit will continue to live on through others. Left to treasure his memory are his mother, Betty Williams McDonald of the home; three sisters, Valarie McDonald, Lillie Mae McDonald and Betty Ann McDonald, all of Sumter; four brothers, Bernard (Tina) McDonald of Columbia, Arthur McDonald of Fayetteville, N. C. Derrick McDonald and Billy McDonald of the home; one uncle, Shadrack “JT” Williams of Sumter; one aunt, Gerleen Jackson of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID -19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 965 Gaines Road, Sumter. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Bradford Cemetery, Highway 15 South, Sumter, with Rev. James L. Kennedy, officiating. The procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m.
