Hattie Mae Campbell, known as “Ladybug”, but affectionately known her entire life as “Shirley”, was called home on May 27, 2021, surrounded by her family in her home. Shirley was born February 12, 1943 in Lee County, to the late Gillon and Rebecca McDonald King. Shirley received her education from the Lee County School District. At an early age, Shirley moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she began employment with After Six Tuxedo Company for numerous years. Shirley was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she faithfully served an usher. Later, Shirley joined New Life Baptist Church where she continued her duties as an usher. When not working or at church, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her outings with Denise Moment (Niecy). In 1996, Shirley returned to South Carolina where she resided in Elliott. Shirley was a member of Pentecostal Temple Holiness Church of Elliott where she ushered, served as Pastor’s aide, a member of the Missionary Choir and taught Sunday School. Shirley continued working at We Sew International until she retired from the workforce. Shirley leaved to cherish her memories: her son, Robert Green (Marsha Turner) of Middletown, Delaware; grandson, Keion Green (Leslie) of Middletown, Delaware; three great-grandchildren, Westly Barnes, Kameron Green, and Kaylee Green; two sisters, Hannah (Tommy) Smith of Society Hill, South Carolina and Lillian King of the home; three brothers, Charles (Kathleen) King of Elliott, South Carolina, Elvis (Janet) King both of Sumter, South Carolina and Johnny (Josephine) King of Columbia, South Carolina. Shirley also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends. Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 25 Freedom Circle, Elliott. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p. m., Friday, June 4, 2021 at Restoration Word Ministry, 66 Tram Road, Elliott, with Overseer Pastor Betty Graham, officiating. Burial will be in the Pentecostal Temple Holiness Church Cemetery, 341 Lynchburg Highway, Wisacky. The procession will leave the home at 1:30 p. m.
