On Tuesday January 4, 2022, Bertha Mae Jett Robinson, the widow of Wilford Robinson, gained her wings and took her flight from this earthly life to a heavenly reward. She was born in Lee County on December 27, 1942, to the late Nash Reames and Carola Mixon Jett. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County. She was a member of Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church, where she served on the usher board and a great supporter of other organizations in the church. Bertha will always be remembered for her love of cooking, cleaning, and working in her flower garden. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Wanda Robinson of the home and Yvonne Charlene Robinson of Sumter; three sons Christopher (Natashia) Robinson, Robert (Kathy) McKelvie of Sumter, and John (Michelle) Green of Woodbridge, N. J.; two daughters-in-law, Maggie Green of Sumter, and Tiajuana Harris of Spartanburg; one brother, Willie Jett of Sumter; one sister, Lula Mae Davis of Elizabeth, N. J.; two special cousins, Lillie Mae Mickens of East Orange, N.J., and Mary Louise Jenkins of Sumter; two special friends, Sudie Montgomery of Sumter, and Edith Nickens, of Dalzell; one special nephew, James Chuck Jett of Elgin; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carola Jett, father Nash Reames; two sons, William Eric Robinson and Paul Green; five brothers, Billie, Bobby, Thomas, Michael, and James; and three sisters, Mozell, Minnie Lee and Loraine. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 3770 Rhododendran Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Jerome McCray, Eulogist and the Rev. Samuel Temoney, Pastor of Quinn Chapel A. M. E. Church, presiding, The procession will leave the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in White’s Cemetery, Air Port Road, Sumter.
