Isadore Nathaniel III, son of the late Isadore Nathaniel Jr. and Elvira Gooden Nathaniel, was born in Sumter County, on February 25, 1951. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. Isadore was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School, Class of 1969, Dalzel. He obtained additional training in Machine Tool Operation from Sumter Technical College in Sumter. At an early age, he was converted and joined Orangehill A. M. E. Church, Wedgefield, where he remained as a lifetime member. He was active in the church and sang on the Men’s Chorus and was a faithful Steward for many years. Isadore met the love of his life, Sarah Marie Roach while in High School. They were married on September 22, 1973 and would have celebrated 49 years of marriage next month. Their union was blessed with two children, a daughter and a son. He worked for Winn Dixie Grocery Store in Sumter for many years as a meat cutter. Meat cutting was also a hobby for Isadore which he turned into a part-time business as well. He enjoyed being able to cut wild game and other meats for friends and family. He worked at Square D Electrical Company in Columbia, South Carolina for a few years and then for Exide Battery Company in Sumter for many years, until the company relocated to the North. Isadore was also able to help his father with his logging business at time permitted. He was a family man, a good provider and a caring father and husband. Loving memories are cherished by his devoted wife, Sarah, and their son, Damien, both of the home; a sister, Susan Grant of Newport News, VA; a brother, Rev. Earnest (Geraldine) Nathaniel of Florence; one aunt, Bertie Lou Thomas of Sumter; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; a number of loving nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 4210 Wedgefield Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Orangehill A. M. E. Church, 3005 South Highway 261, Wedgefield, with the Rev. Gregory Williams, pastor, Rev. Lemuel Washington, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the High Hills Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 6750 Meeting House Road, Dalzell.
