Charles Isaac “Pop” Spann was born August 30, 1950, in Lee County, South Carolina to the late William Spann and Maybell Johnson Spann. He was called home on October 18, 2022 at McLeod Medical Hospital of Florence, South Carolina. “Pop”, as he was affectionately known, joined Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church at an early age. He was a member of the Woodrow Elite Club. He was employed at Segars HCH Edens Farm and Burrows Farm until he retired. If you knew Pop, you knew his favorite saying was “peeping and grinning”. His two favorite teams were the Washington Commanders and thee New York Yankees. He leaves to cherish those precious memories: his loving wife of 38 years, Francena M. Spann; two daughters of the home, Kimberly and Charlene Spann; four sons, Charles (Octavia) Spann of Chesterfield, VA, Jamaine (Tonya) English of Norfolk, VA, Jamie (Sharlene) Martin of Columbia, and Terrance (Kina) Bradley of McDonough, GA; one sister, Susie Mae Brisbane of Sumter; two brothers, Arthur (Susan) Spann of Mesa, AZ and James (Eartha) Spann of Mayesville; his father-in-law, Rochelle Martin, Jr. of Dalzell; three sisters-in-law,. Vera Spann of Tabor City, N. C., Dorothy Martin of Dalzell, and Roberta Martin of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, James and Timothy (LaTisha) Martin of Dalzell; seventeen grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face mask and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 5450 Raymond Jenkins Street, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p. m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. R. L. Brown, Pastor, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 12:30 p. m. Burial will be in the Colclough Cemetery, Dubose Siding Road, Sumter.
