Today, we honor and celebrate the life of our dear mother, Edith R. Watkins (aka “Handful”). Edith was born on August 16, 1949 to the late Thomas and Edith Robinson in Sumter, South Carolina. Edith was married to the late Abraham Watkins, Sr. On Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, our mother entered into eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Edith attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School. Edith loved talking on the telephone, playing soft ball and helping the community. She loved her children and family and enjoyed attending family functions and celebrations where she found humor in every situation. Edith worked many years at Glenn and Pioneer Manufactory and retired from Sumter School District. Edith leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: one son, Abraham (Monica) Watkins, and three daughters, Karen (Randy) Dow, Denise Watkins, Latonya (Edward) Watkins, all of Sumter; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Sarah (Henry) Jones; two brothers, Bernie Robinson and Charlie Robinson, all of Sumter, S. C.; four brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; god daughter, Altrina Jones Dingle; god son, Bernard Hardly; two special sons, Robert L. Robinson, Elder Joseph Watkins; special friends, James Graham and Roy Wells; a best friend, Mattie Gregg, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas and Edith Robinson; husband, Abraham Watkins and two brothers, Leroy Robinson and Thomas Henry Robinson. In accord with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 1050 Dibert Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, 11:00 a. m. at Church of God By Faith, 609 Atlantic Street, Sumter, with Superintendent Elder Mack Wilson, Pastor, Presiding Elder Joseph Watkins, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will be in the Grant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Yard Cemetery, 5420 Black River Road, Rembert
