Kathleen Patterson, the daughter of the late Isaac and Lorena Patterson, was born in Lake City on December 3, 1935. On June 21, 2023, Kathleen transitioned to glory peacefully at the age of 87 years old. Kathleen was the oldest of eight siblings; five preceded her to her grave, three brothers, Leroy, Joe, and Freddy, and two sisters, Patricia and Eva. Kathleen leaves to cherish her memory: two siblings, Dorothy Campbell of Sumter and Nisilo Shatawayo of Phoenix, Arizona; seven children, five daughters, Jeanette, Seretta, Sheila (Donald), Faatimah, and Tamasa (Jeff) and two sons, Marvin and Michael; one son, Barry and one grandson preceded her to her grave; one grandson raised like a son, Hashim (Lapresse); fifteen other grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. After Kathleen’s birth in Lake City, she later moved to Charleston, where she first attended public school, finishing her education in the Bronx, New York. To all those who knew Kathleen "Kat", they will remember her as the backbone and mother of the family who was full of life and a comfort to be around. She will be cherished by those who knew and loved her. To her friends, she was a joy to be around, and to those who were fortunate to have had the chance to know her, she was a bright light in their lives. She will be remembered with love. Our mother was a nurturer and a rock that we all depended on throughout our lives. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 120 Annie Court, Dalzell. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 – 11:00 a. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr., Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Bishop Richard Grate, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 10:20 a. m. Burial will be in the Hillside Memorial Park, 2561Cains Mill Road, Sumter.
