Judy Lynn Ellison-Houston, the widow of Kenneth J. Houston, departed this life on June 16, 2023. Judy was born on April 5, 1965 in Sumter, to the late Freddie Ellison and Maggie McDonald Ellison. Judy was baptized July 3, 1977 at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina. She attended the public schools of South Carolina and graduated from St. Jude High School in 1983. She was enlisted in the United States Navy, where she received her certification in Electronic in 1984 at the Naval Air Technology Center, Naval Air Station Memphis, Willington, Tennessee. Judy was always known for her bubbly and outgoing personality. She was gifted in music, voice and played several instruments including the piano. She is survived by a daughter, Keneithra J. Houston of Nevada; a sister, Carla F. Ellison (Edwin Sanders) of Sumter: an uncle, Henry Bethea and an aunt, Joyce Bethea of Hopkins and a host of cousins and friends. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Wake Services will be Friday, July 28, 2023 – 4:00 – 7:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter.
