Dieanne Sanders Spann departed this earthly life on Monday August 14, 2023 at her residence in Sumter, South Carolina. Dieanne was born on May 8, 1956 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Jake Sanders Sr. and Dorethia Kelley Sanders. Dieanne attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a Sumter High School, Class of 1975 graduate. Dieanne attended Central Carolina Technical College and studied Water Treatment and obtained several certifications and awards. On May 8, 1993, she was united in marriage to the love of her life the late John Walter Spann. Dieanne was employed at Campbell Soup Inc., Yuasa-Exide, Tyson Foods, and the Sumter County Disability and Special Needs Board. Dieanne was the founder of the Dieanne S. Spann Foundation where she ministered and aided for the elderly in her community for several years. Dieanne was a long time member of Grant Hill Baptist Church where she was the President of the Missionary Board and also served on the Health Care Ministry, Usher Board and Pastor’s Aide. Dieanne had a true passion for her family, she loved entertaining them as well showing her true gratitude and appreciation for them. She had a contagious personality and a smile that would light a room. She enjoyed working in her yard and bringing life to her plants with her green thumb. Dieanne had a true love for God and his word. Dieanne was proceeded in death by her parents, Jake Sanders Sr. and Dorethia Kelley Sanders, her husband, John Walter Spann and son Adrean Lendard Sanders-Spann Dieanne is survived by her daughters, Bridget Spann (Cleveland) of Sumter; Christal Spann of Charlotte, NC; Johnetta Spann of Columbia, and Jennifer Hemingway (Wayne) of Sumter; grandchildren, Cleveland Adrian-Izayah Davis, Jaydan Davis, Jada Johnson, Jazzmin Brown, Cecelia Hemingway, John Hemingway and Cierra Hemingway; one great-granddaughter Ka’Moni Williams; two brothers Larry Sanders (Minnie) and Jake Sanders Jr. (Valerie) both of Sumter, SC; five sisters Shirley Harris, Deborah Choice, Marchel Canty (Kenneth) and Williemae Graham all of Sumter, and Geraldine Worth (John) of St. Louis, MO; her special aunts, Marie Jackson of Sumter, Connie Jackson of Baltimore, MD, and Annie Mae Ludd and Sarah Pugh of Orlando, FL; Goddaughter Tonya Mack-Canty and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation from 3:00 – 7:00 p. m. at the home, 1475 Florence Highway, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 – 1:00 p. m. at Grant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 5420 Black River Road, Rembert, with Rev. Clifton N. Witherspoon, Pastor, Officiating, Pastor Jake Sanders III, Eulogist. Wake services will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p. m., Friday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 12:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Grant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Yard Cemetery.
