Samuel Wright, son of the late Theodore Wright, Sr. and Hester Nixon Wright, was born July 11, 1950 in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 a Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Mr. Wright was reared in a Christian home and learned early in life the value of discipline, hard work and the meaning of family. He attended High Hills A. M. E. in his youth. Throughout his life, he worked for various painting companies. He was always willing to help others in the community when asked. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Samuel (Shanda) McDonald of Sumter, S. C.; one daughter, Katina Dixon of Charlotte, N. C.; one brother, Peter Wright of Rembert, S. C.; five sisters, Elnora Littles, Lue Alice Singleton, Pamela Wright, Orbedella Wright and Carolyn Ansah of Sumter, S. C.; four grandchildren; one great grand daughter; aunts and uncles, Josephine Callahan and Dorothy Nixon of Long Island, N. Y., Dorcas Williams, Emma (Lewis) Howard of Sumter, S. C.; Dr. Roosevelt (Calpernia) Nixon of New Jersey and Florence Glasco of Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Lee Nixon, Ransom, Theodore, Charles and Joseph Wright. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home of his sister, 7365 Scales Road, Rembert. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023at 2:00 p. m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Bishop Richard Croom, Eulogist. The procession will leave the home at 1:20 p. m.
