Vincent Edward Meredith was born on July 17, 1949 to Betty and Tucker Meredith in Louisa County, Virginia and was the 10th of 11 siblings. On Friday, December 15, 2023, God saw that Vincent had labored long and was tired so he called him home for eternal rest. Vincent was a 1968 graduate of A.G. Richardson High School in Virginia and even at an early age, he had a flair for dressing and was voted “Best Dressed” of his senior class. On April 16, 1970, he was drafted into the United States Army and served a tour in the Vietnam War. During his tenure, he received numerous awards which included: the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Service Medal. Following his discharge from the Army, he relocated to the Maryland/Washington, DC area joining many of his family members. Vincent’s hobbies included being an avid and competitive chess player, listening to smooth jazz, playing spades and bid wiz, riding his beloved Harley Davidson Black Street Glide motorcycle and cruising in his convertible BMW sports car. He was employed at the U.S. Department of Justice for 39 years in various roles within the technology department. During his tenure, he received numerous awards and commendations for always providing outstanding and professional service. He was also the family’s “go to” guru for everyone’s technology needs. He retired on September 30, 2013. On June 21, 1986, Vincent married the love of his life, Annie Mae McCaw Crump. Vincent leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Annie Mae, whom he always affectionately called “Crump”; stepson, Trevoi LaNair (Nikia) Crump, Sr., of Sumter, SC; grandsons, Trevoi LaNair Crump, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Terrence LaRone Crump of Charlotte, NC, SSG James Lawrence Crump, II of Ft. Hood, Texas and Taequon Crump of Killeen, Texas; great grandchildren, London Aubree Pope and Jaceon Gianni Crump of, Tone, Alabama; siblings, Ester (Joseph) Johnson of Poughkeepsie, NY, Sylvester Meredith of Washington, DC, Elizabeth (Willard) of Albany, NY, Elnora Porter of Forestville, MD, Isaac Meredith of Fort Washington, MD; brother-in-law, Herman (Lottie) McCaw of Sumter, SC; sisters-in-laws, Clara Champ of Suitland, Maryland, Katie (March) Spencer of Ft. Washington, MD, Hestina McCaw of Columbia, SC and A. Ruth McCaw of Dalzell, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends, Joseph Sawyer, Solomon Young and Clyde Moody all of Fort Washington, MD, Gregory Goff of Charlotte, NC, and Mike Williams of Louisa, Virginia. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 3255 Sargent Road, Dalzell. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 – 11:00 a. m. at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Richard Addison, Pastor and Eulogist and the Rev. Dr. L. W. Walker, Jr., Presiding. The Remains will be place in the church at 10:00 a. m. for viewing until time of services. The procession will leave the home at 10:30 a. m. Burial will be Tuesday, December 26, 2023 – 11:00 a. m. in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donation be made to the American Cancer Society.
