Cusandra Wilson-Martin was born on March 25, 1978 in Bishopville to the late Essie Mae Wilson and Willie Lee Wilson. She attended Mt. Pleasant High School in Elliott, Later on she took up a career as a correctional officer at Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center until she was medically retired. After a hard fought battle of aggressive lupus and more Cusandra passed away at the age of 45 on January 3, 2024 while in the care of Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. She leaves behind her husband, Bernard Martin; two daughters, Shae’Quonda Martin (Shay), Chavonda Martin (Kia); granddaughter, Peyton Martin (Mya); siblings, Lois Peterson, Patricia Wilson, Michael Wilson (Valerie;) special friends, Rachel Richardson, Tiara Colclough, Tyrique Smith; godchildren, Leir Smith and Leila Smith, and many others relatives and friends . She was preceded in death by her mother, Essie Mae Wilson; her father, Willie Lee Wilson; her son, Deakwon Martin and many other relatives. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 1079 South St. Paul Church Road, Sumter. Funeral services will be 1:00 p. m., Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Unionville A. M. E. Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, with the Rev. Jerome McCray, Pastor, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 12:00 noon for viewing until time of the services. The procession will leave the home at 12:15 p. m. Burial will be in the Unionville A. M. E. Church Yard Cemetery.
