Charlie Lovely, Sr., 78, widower of Catherine Chambers, departed this earthly life on January 16, 2024 at Oak Hollow of Sumter Rehabilitation Center, Sumter, South Carolina. Charlie was born on July 19, 1945 in Lee County, South Carolina to the late Sammy Lovely, Sr. and Beulah Walker Lovely. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Willie James Loves and Lavern Lovely; three stepdaughters, Elsie Marshall, Laura Marshall and Irene Dixon; one stepson, Herbert Marshall; one sister, Laney Lovely; one brother, Alonzo Washington (Sylvia), numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Charlie Lovely, Jr.; three sisters, Rosa Lee Green, Essie Lovely Graham, Sammie Bell Lovely and two brothers, Alex Walker and Manzie Lovely. In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p. m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. J. Elbert Williams, officiating.
