Lt. Col. Ret. Dr. Albert L. Davis, son of the late Willie Davis and Vermeller D. Goodwin, was born on April 3, 1945 in Marion, SC. He departed this earthly life on November 16, 2025. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Good Hope Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Camden, where he served in many ministries when he was needed. He was affiliated with several organizations, 9th and 10th Horse Calvary of the Buffalo Soldiers Association, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Vice President of American Legion Post 202, Chaplain of Catchall Lodge #425 of the Fee and Accepted Masons. Dr. Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies from Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida in 1968 before joining the United States Air Force. While on active duty, he continued to earned degrees. His military career has afforded him the opportunity to visit three continents and more than ten countries resulting in an educational experience that is second to none. After retiring from the Air Force in June 1999, Lt. Colonel Davis started a home-based business as an Executive Sales Associate with an herbal product company and was s elf-employed for 21 years. Dr. Davis leaves to cherish his life and mourn his passing: his wife, Alice C. Davis, his children, many other relatives and friends as well. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 535 South Wise Drive, Sumter. Viewing and Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2025, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Good Hope Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 406 Black River Road, Camden, followed by the DKS Closed Final Rites Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, SC 29150. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, 12:00 Noon, at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 609 Manning Avenue, Sumter with Dr. Marion H. Newton, Pastor, the Rev. Brenda J. Thomas, officiating. Internment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 North Guignard Drive, Sumter.
