Larry “Buster” Durant, Jr., was born on October 16, 1948, in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Larry Durant Sr. and Freddie Mae Scarborough Durant. On September 6, 2026, Larry transitioned from this earthly life. He was educated in the Lee County public schools and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1966. His precious memories will be cherished by his wife, Mary Lizzie McGill Durant, his family, other relatives and friends. Wake services will be 5:00 – 7:00 p. m., Friday, September 11, 2026 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Celebration of Life Services will be 11:00 a. m., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1800 Vista Lane, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Eric Ramsey, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Church Yard Cemetery. The family is receiving relatives and friends from 2:00-7:00 p. m. at the home, 633 CC Road, Lynchburg.
